
After a brief spell in the armed forces Andy qualified as a Community and Youth Worker in 1990. He went on to work in the Probation Service and Croydon Youth Service before moving into residential care work. Andy completed his honors degree in 1999 and went on to qualify as a Systemic Family Therapist in 2001.
Since 1999 Andy has worked for the London Borough of Havering initially as a Youth Development Worker and since 2002 as the Education Support Service Coordinator responsible for School based youth work, the Secondary Schools Education Welfare Service and alternative provision for excluded students.
Outside of work Andy spends much of his time flying both in microlights and gliders. He is a BGA rated gliding instructor and Secretary of the Essex and Suffolk Gliding Club.
Andy has been a NASWE member since 2004 and a National Council member since 2006 when he took on the role of Training and Development Coordinator.
