General Secretary Jacqui Newvell

Jacqui has been a NASWE member since 1990. During that time she has served as President, Training and Development Officer and currently as General Secretary.

Jacqui graduated from the Polytechnic of North London with a degree in applied social studies and a social work qualification. She went on to spend 16 years working in the Education Social Work Service as a field worker, team manager and service manager in Inner London during which time she also gained a post graduate diploma in management studies. She is currently Head of the Pupil Inclusion Unit at the National Children's Bureau, and studying with the Open University for a MA in Social Policy.

As NASWE's first Training and Development Officer, Jacqui campaigned for the development of National Occupational Standards and a qualification structure for the service and served o the project steering group that finally completed the Standards late in 2003.

Jacqui also sits on the TOPSS Children's Services Committee
