NASWE Lawrence Warburton

Lawrence has been a NASWE member since 1990. During that time he has held the post of President and Publicity Officer, and he’s currently serving as the Web Meister.

Lawrence graduated from the Manchester Polytechnic with an honours degree in social science (criminology, political sociology and social psychology) and an advanced qualification in beer and table football. He went on to work as an Education Welfare Officer in Stockport for 9 years before moving to Cheshire County Council to take up the post as the Senior EWO at the Halton (Runcorn & Widnes) area office; after six happy years in Cheshire he left to become part of a special projects team with Lancashire County Council. He has been the Principal Education Welfare Officer with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council for the last 9 years.

Back in 1999 Lawrence was part of the Audit Commission's study advisory group that produced the national ‘Missing Out’ report on the LEA management of attendance and he was also a member of the former DFEE practitioners group on tackling truancy & youth crime. He is also a fanatical Manchester United supporter.
