Course Outline

This NEW course is designed to reflect the activities and responsibilities of people who work with children, young people and those who care for them. You will study health and safety, confidentiality, protection, advice and guidance, networks and case load management. The qualification is aimed at a variety of workforce roles, to allow for a greater understanding and flexibility across professions, in order to ensure that the client group is provided with a coherent service. This is a new qualification with specialist pathways for professions where there have been no qualifications previously. The pathways provide candidates with a clear understanding of responsibilities, recognition of existing skills and opportunities to improve services. It provides employers with improved performance, motivated staff and new ideas for the future.

There are 3 individual pathways made up of 6 mandatory units, 3 optional units and 2 specialist units for each of the following:

There is a variety of optional units that allow for the recognition of specialist functions and also the flexibility to move across occupational areas.

Assessment

A combination of assignments, case studies, group work, individual tutorials, witness testimony, workplace assessments and work products.

Entry Requirements

Level 3 qualification in one of the following:

Applicants should also be working in the area of their chosen pathway i.e. Education Welfare, Supporting Young People or Learning Mentor.
